Initial Evaluation

At Jenna Conway Educational Consultation and Tutoring, we believe that a thorough initial evaluation is the first step in providing effective and personalized support to your child. Our initial evaluations are designed to assess not only your child's areas of need, but also whether their needs align with our skills sets.

During the evaluation, we will assess up to two academic areas through informal academic assessments in Math, Science, Reading, or Writing. We also include an academic game to evaluate your child's skill and flexibility of thinking, and a parent or guardian mini interview to gather more information about your child's strengths and weaknesses.

Following the evaluation, you can expect to receive a comprehensive report from Jenna that includes a detailed description of the evaluation process, your child's strengths and weaknesses in the assessed areas, and a recommendation of goals for the next few months of tutoring. If your child has an IEP, we may reference these goals for tutoring or establish independent tutoring goals.

To ensure that your child is best prepared for the evaluation, we advise that they eat a meal or have a non-sugary snack beforehand and have a water bottle available during the session. This will help avoid unnecessary breaks or distractions and allow your child to give an accurate representation of their skills.

Don't hesitate to reach out to Jenna Conway Educational Consultation and Tutoring to schedule an initial evaluation and take the first step towards achieving your child's academic success.
